Awesome app

This software is so easy to setup and so useful. My customers are much happier and the feedback we got regarding service has gone up because servers now spend less time getting tickets in the kitchen and more time being attentive to customers. I love this software and should of implemented pos in my business a lot sooner. Not only is the software amazing the customer support is great too. Ran into a few problems setting up menu and questions were answered very promptly. All in all we love this software and its capabilities!!!

Great customer support

I purchased Ambur for my coffee shop and have been quite pleased with the app itself and would like to particularly mention that more importantly, the customer service is exceptional. I had an issue that was taken very seriously and resolved with excellent timing. This type of service shows the commitment that the Ambur owner and staff have for their product.

Version 2.8

This update has a lot of features that I love, however it has connection issues. I will update my review when they get this problem fixed. We use our own devices to take orders at the table, but more often than not, we are back to pen and paper and waiting in line at the hub. Very frustrating.

what happened?????????????

we used Ambur at our restaurant for 3 years. They added online reporting and we were so excited but quality went way way down. The online reports dont make sense and dont match the real numbers. New features like promotions and major groups are confusing and dont work. Support doesnt understand what is going on either. Sometimes the guy in charge of the app jumps in. good luck talking to him. youll find out where the confusion starts. Try to learn a little bit about restaurants!!! Crashes are way way up. We already paid for it but we are switching to another P.O.S. We cant waste more time and money on their mistakes hoping they find out whats going on with their P.(iece).O(f).S(***)

No good

I have tried rating this with no stars but would not allow me to do so. So I gave it 1* for its potential ability to be a good app. Customer service and a lot of its features are *0*. All the problems that everyone else has had are issues I have had with Ambur from day one. I have had entire days worth of transactions totally disappear and even ones currently opened in the pos. Payroll is a mess, does not accept the clock outs of employees and never has. I used Shopkeep for 2 years and was happy somewhat with them but I wanted a few more features that Ambur offered that Shopkeep did not. Big mistake as there is absolutely zero customer service. I never had the ability to use the 2-3 devices at a time that I was paying for so I made a change to go to just one effective on the next billing date until I could get things worked out with them. The plan changed but I was immediately charged another $58 within 2 weeks of paying $128 for the 2-3 device plan. I have emailed them and called numerous times for an explanation but they have yet to answer and this has been going on for 3 weeks now. (And did I mention that I had 14 days free trial and yet was charged for Ambur immediately!I have also questioned them about that but no answer, surprise, surprise!) Just dont do it, dont use Ambur. It is just not worth the chaos it creates. There are options out there that are better I am sure.

Ambur Awesome :: Delivery Options Requested!!

We are current users of Ambur and we are thrilled with it. Along with take-out and dine-in, we offer delivery service, too. We would love certain options added to allow a more smooth delivery experience such as... manual credit card entering, the option to add a phone number and address to the ticket (were having to write everything on a separate sheet of paper), etc... We understand Ambur 2.0 will be coming out soon and were super excited! Please take into consideration these requests. Thank you!

Love love love...infinity

We are a seasonal business in northern MN, open May-Oct. We are on our 2nd year with Ambur and still in love! We are a small restaurant & Ambur is user friendly. It is affordable & great user support for me who is not an iPad geek. My 22 yr old daughter programmed our iPad and we can painlessly tweak it on the fly to our needs & decide how we want it to function. I have one of my printers in my pizza kitchen & one inside our shop that are able to print "certain" designated tickets. We use Mercury for our CCards. Last year Ambur enabled us to accept CCards after being in business as cash or check Only for 9 years! Now we will get rid of bounced checks! You wont regret your purchase of Ambur and your life will be significantly improved upon such a purchase.

Great app

Amazing for a fast paced restaurant. A few slight bugs but not enough to detract from its ease of use. Weve loved using ambur and we would recommend it for any restaurant.

Crashes

The new app crashes every time you try to open it. This needs to be fixed immediately. Not a good start to the update process.

Chef/Owner

Pros: I purchased Ambur for my 40 seat restaurant/bar and am so happy I did. The application is very easy to use, program & maintain during service. I was able to adapt the entire application to my floor plan and menu in a few hours. The reporting has made my server closing paperwork effortless. It is also great to be able to email all reports for accounting and tracking. I would highly recommend this application for any small restaurant/bar that needs an entry level POS system. I was using hand written checks for the first few months and I can say that since I bought Ambur life has been much easier. Cons: As I said above, the current version of Ambur is still an entry level POS system. Currently it is not possible to print seat numbers on the tickets and it is also not easy to course the meal. I understand that the new version of Ambur that will be released soon should fix some of these issues. Reports are also supposed to be updated and revised in the new version. There is no way, as I can tell so far, to see how many covers were done in a shift. There are also several other minor issues with the reports that I understand will be updated in the new version. Overall: I have to give credit to the developers of this app because it is really great right now, especially for the value, and I can only imagine it will get even better with version 2.0. I have called for support twice and both times have been 100% satisfied with the support. Thanks to everyone at the Ambur team for making my life a bit easier. Dziękuję

Cannot get ahold of Ambur

I have been trying to get ahold of Ambur to ask a few questions and order a license and equipment, but have not been able to get ahold of anyone. Is there an email address or another phone number. Someone from there please help!

Dont Buy this!

This is the worst POS system I have used. I have 2 restaurants and have winPos in them. They are fast paced restaurants and if you are using ambur, you are going to be disappointed. Try seating a party of 12 and splitting checks on ambur. Its a freaking nightmare. No option to manually key in cards. Constantly losing connections with hub. If u have a sloooooooow business then maybe this is ok. I switched systems to the day of install. It was that bad. Hopefully my terminals will arrive soon. Dont waste your money.

Ambur rocks!

I have been using Ambur for almost 1 year. We do breakfast and lunch only 7 days a week. Setting up the menu takes careful thought. The best way for set up is to keep a months worth of orders handy to help with the modifiers. To set up the system was a breeze with all apple products. Running live went very smooth. We have had a few small issues that the Ambur Team has been very responsive to. They are eager to help and take the time to listen. At this time there is no way to do a register pay-out, or manually key in a credit card, but I have been assured that it will come in an update. I would say that the most difficult thing that we have had to deal with are the customers. Change is difficult for many. They think that the servers are texting. I have put out a letter explaining the new system and that seems to have helped. The kitchen loves the less traffic and not having to decipher handwriting. I am excited about this and looking forward to the updates to come. We went live with AMBUR the week prior or Labor Day which is a busy week. I kept the old cash register on the counter - just in case- I never needed it! No one on the staff is a techie and they were all nervous. After 2 hours, most of the fitters were gone and at day 3 the cash register was retired after 15 long years! The AMBUR team responds quickly to all emails and phone calls (during their operating hours). They have been very receptive to options that I feel are important to my business. We are a very, very busy little diner and this system ROCKS!! Thanks TEAM AMBUR! Im not sure why Rick7872 would say that he hasnt been able to get ahold of anyone. To CrockPot2013, if you had problems disconnecting from the hub, you either have your hub too far away or there is interference. Yes, occasionally we have a hub issue, but it is quickly resolved by restarting the router.

Actual Customer

As an actual customer (Im doubtful the two previous reviewers were), I must say that Ambur is incredible! We have a menu with many modifiers, constantly changing specials, a very large and evolving wine list, and printers/registers in various locations. Ambur handles this flawlessly and keeps both the front and the back of the house happy. I enjoy the pleasant and quality customer service. We have gotten more than we payed for. Keep it up, Ambur folks!

We are a restaurant and bar that has been using Ambur since July of 2013. We do around 400 covers per week. We have been pleased with this system and havent had any major issues since we started using Ambur. It was very quick to set up (I do recommend using someone with a good technical background) and our severs quickly mastered the skills necessary to use the system. We currently have three iPads; 4 printers and 1 cash drawer in use but will expand with 2 more iPads and Printers and 1 more cash station soon. We recommend it. If it doesnt work for you the equipment you buy will be usable in other iPad based systems so you are only out the license fee. That is what go us to try it in the first place - No contract and no monthly fees and reusable equipment.

Not built for speed

I was shocked to learn that this system was created by former restaurant workers. The minimum number of buttons I have to press for a transaction as simple as ringing up 1 beer with exact change is 11. Its just not built for speed. You have to enter a name before every order, so definitely not built for a bar. There are glitches and the system goes off line off and on. It isnt intuitive and adds way too many steps for a transaction that should be simple. Its infuriating to use as a server.

Great App

We have been using this app since January 2013 and have been very pleased. It is a great affordable POS option for independent restaurants. No ongoing service contracts or monthly fees. We are take-out and delivery and the customer database works great for maintaining customer information. During peak times we can connect an additional iPad and additional iPhones. The program is completely customizable to meet specific needs and very user friendly. Although the setup was time-consuming, you dont have to be a tech-y to do it. And you can easily change prices, menu items, etc. Given there are no ongoing service contracts, I was not expecting the customer service/tech support to be great, but I have been very impressed. The few times we have had questions, we have gotten email responses within a few hours. And the one time we did have a major issue (which was totally an Apple problem, not an Ambur problem) Amburs support person stayed on the phone for nearly an hour with me, getting it resolved. Very knowledgeable and patient. I highly recommend this app. It is a fraction of the price of most other quality POS systems. You dont have to pay someone to set it up or make changes. And for those with experience on iPads and iPhones, it is a breeze to use. We love it!
